As we were driving back to my hotel after lunch and a very busy morning checking out the Bali Safari, I looked out of the car window to spot this line up of stone statues of Hindu gods and mythological figures lined up for sale. These will probably end us as garden decorations in parks and religious established around Bali Island- they are definitely too big and heavy for home use. In India, the town of Mammallapuram (now Mahaballipuram) near Madras (Chennai) is renowned for it’s stone sculptures, and I have spotted a similar stone statue making facility in Cambodia on the road from Siem Reap to Battambang as well.
